The Cuero ISD Education Foundation recently had the honor of spotlighting the Cuero High School Gobble Bots, an emerging powerhouse in STEM education and competitive robotics. Thanks to a Spring 2025 Engineering the Future Grant, the Gobble Bots secured a state-of-the-art 3D printer, a game-changing tool that has elevated their ability to design, prototype, and refine robotics projects with greater precision and creativity.
First Year, First Place
The 2025 season marked the Gobble Bots' first year competing in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an internationally acclaimed organization that engages students in hands-on STEM learning and real-world problem-solving through mentor-led robotics challenges.
Despite being newcomers, the Gobble Bots made an unforgettable impression. After a season filled with learning curves and obstacles, they finished strong—earning a 1st place win at their final event, where they competed against top-tier regional and state-level teams. Their perseverance and teamwork paid off, laying a solid foundation for future growth and competition.
More Than Just Robots
Beyond the competition floor, the Gobble Bots are committed to inspiring the next generation of engineers. Through events like Magic Mondays and CTE Night, the team offers local students opportunities to explore robotics up close, sparking interest in STEM fields through mentorship and hands-on interaction.
Looking ahead, Cuero ISD’s robotics program is expanding. In Fall 2025, two new teams will launch as part of the FIRST LEGO League:
Gobble Byte (Grades 4–8)
Gobble Bit (Grades 2–5)
These new teams will introduce students as young as four to the fundamentals of robotics and engineering through the fun and creativity of LEGO® bricks. This expansion demonstrates Cuero ISD’s commitment to building a thriving robotics pipeline from elementary to high school, promoting curiosity, collaboration, and innovation at every level.
