The Lennie Moore Memorial Scholarship stands as a tribute to an extraordinary man whose life was marked by perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to his community. Established to honor Lennie’s legacy, the scholarship seeks to reward Cuero High School seniors who exemplify his core values of leadership, academic excellence, and active involvement in their community.
Honoring Lennie Moore’s Legacy
Lennie Moore lived an inspiring life, one characterized by hard work, determination, and a dedication to service. A 1967 graduate of Cuero High School, Lennie was known for his kind heart and unique personality that left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
After high school, Moore was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served his country with distinction. During his time in the military, he earned several accolades, a testament to his discipline and commitment. Upon completing his service, Lennie transitioned to civilian life and began working for Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages in Houston. His natural drive and talent for sales quickly propelled him to the top, where he earned the title of the company’s number one salesman.
Despite his success in the big city, Lennie felt the pull of his hometown. He returned to Cuero to raise his family and establish his own business, a decision that showcased his devotion to his roots. Moore became an active member of the community, giving back through various charitable avenues. His involvement extended to organizing charity golf tournaments, supporting the Boys and Girls Club, and participating in mission work through his church.
Lennie's life was not without its challenges, but his faith in God and unwavering determination allowed him to overcome obstacles time and again. His personal motto, "never let your circumstances determine your success," became a guiding principle that resonated with those who knew him.
The Lennie Moore Memorial Scholarship reflects this spirit, aiming to support students who share Lennie’s values of perseverance, leadership, and commitment to community.
