Established in 2015, the TrustTexas Bank Education Scholarship reflects the long-standing values of TrustTexas Bank, offering deserving Cuero High School seniors an opportunity to receive financial assistance as they pursue higher education.
About TrustTexas Bank
TrustTexas Bank, SSB, has deep roots in the Cuero community. Founded in 1921 under its original charter as Cuero Federal Savings and Loan Association, the bank was created by local leaders with a mission to promote homeownership and provide a secure place for residents to invest their savings. Over the years, TrustTexas Bank has evolved while remaining committed to its community-first values.
In 1998, the bank transitioned to a state savings bank and was renamed Cuero State Bank, SSB. Then, in 2006, it expanded its reach by enhancing its product offerings, upgrading its technology, and adopting the name TrustTexas Bank, SSB to better reflect its broader market presence. Today, TrustTexas Bank operates six branches and a loan production office, serving the greater South Texas area. As of December 31, 2020, the bank proudly managed $355 million in assets, $306 million in deposits, and $46 million in capital.
Through the years, TrustTexas Bank has remained dedicated to building trust with its customers, employees, and communities. A testament to this commitment is the bank’s strong governance by a local board of directors and a team of loyal employees, all working toward a common goal of service and excellence. These values—friendliness, teamwork, trustworthiness, and community engagement—are deeply embedded in the bank's culture and guide its contributions to the local economy and job creation.
The TrustTexas Bank Education Scholarship
In alignment with its core values of community service and education, TrustTexas Bank established the TrustTexas Bank Education Scholarship. Since its inception in 2015, the scholarship has been a pillar of support for Cuero High School students, helping them achieve their academic goals without the burden of financial obstacles.
The scholarship is awarded annually to two outstanding seniors who demonstrate a strong commitment to serving their community—an essential value that TrustTexas Bank holds dear. One recipient is chosen from those planning to pursue higher education locally at either Victoria College or the University of Houston-Victoria. The second recipient is selected from students who aim to attend any other college or university across the country.
Interestingly, the scholarship isn’t limited to students pursuing a career in banking. Rather, it seeks to support students from various academic disciplines, as long as they demonstrate a shared passion for community service and leadership. This reflects TrustTexas Bank’s belief in fostering well-rounded, community-minded individuals, regardless of their chosen career path.

Over the years, the TrustTexas Bank Education Scholarship has helped many talented students achieve their educational goals. Each recipient embodies the values of leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence. Some of the recent recipients include:
