Thanks to the generosity of the Cuero ISD Education Foundation, Mrs. Notaro's advanced culinary class recently had the unforgettable opportunity to attend a four-hour "Flavors of Italy" class at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in San Antonio. This enriching experience was made possible through a grant awarded by the Education Foundation, allowing students to dive deep into the world of professional culinary arts.
During their time at the CIA, the students had the privilege of working in a professional teaching kitchen alongside Chef Pham and Sous Chef Dominic. They were introduced to authentic Italian ingredients such as Parmigiano Reggiano and learned how to prepare a variety of classic Italian dishes, including stone-fired pizzettas, spaghetti and meatballs, carbonara, pasta allo scarpariello, and pizzicati (Italian cookies). The hands-on nature of the class provided the students with a firsthand look at the skills and techniques used by professional chefs, sparking their passion for the culinary arts.
This experience not only broadened their culinary knowledge but also opened their eyes to the possibilities within the world of professional cooking, inspiring them to think beyond the classroom. The students had an absolute blast and are incredibly grateful to the Cuero ISD Education Foundation for supporting the CHS Culinary program.
We are proud to highlight that this program is now a two-time awardee of the Education Foundation Grant, showcasing the impact these grants have in providing students with opportunities to explore their interests and passions. The Education Foundation’s commitment to fostering innovation, creativity, and exploration in education continues to inspire students and shape their futures.
Thank you to everyone who makes these experiences possible. Your support is truly opening doors to new possibilities and providing our students with the tools to succeed.
